Dr.
Lyons was born in New Orleans and attended Jesuit High School where he
graduated with honors in 1974. He attended LSU undergraduate college in
Baton Rouge and in 1977 received a combined curriculum degree. He received
his M.D. degree at L.S.U. in New Orleans in 1981.
He completed his Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery Residency at
L.S.U. – New Orleans in 1986. During this period, he was allowed
to perform a junior fellowship with The American Academy of Facial Plastic
and Reconstructive Surgery. Working under the tutelage of Dr. Jack Anderson
and Dr. Gaylon McCollough stimulated him to pursue a career in cosmetic
surgery.
Dr. Lyons is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic
and Reconstructive Surgery as well as the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery.
He is also board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology –
Head and Neck Surgery and the American Board of Hyperbaric Medicine. He
actively participates in the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. He
is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has published scientific
research articles on tissue adhesives and continues to publish articles
on cosmetic surgery including eyelid, hair transplant, liposuction and
lipo-transfer procedures as well as facelift and nasal surgery. He is
on staff at the local hospitals in the Mobile area. He participates actively
on committees at the local hospitals and is a member of the L.S.U. –
New Orleans Health Science Center, Department of Otolaryngology –
Division of Facial Plastic Surgery as an Associate Professor. He has been
on “Ask the Expert” on numerous occasions on WKRG radio. He
also participates on news shows on Comcast Cable. He is an Associate Professor
at the University of South Alabama’s Medical School.
